Springfield’s Debate of Local Drug Monitoring Program

“Crazy,” “ridiculous,” and “unsafe,” are a few words Dr. David Tonkin used to describe Missouri’s lack of a statewide prescription drug monitoring program.

Tonkin runs pain and addiction management clinics across the country, including one in Springfield. Physicians outside of Missouri can check to see if their patients go to multiple doctors for prescription painkillers before prescribing medication.
